Four LBPD Officers Climb Dept. Ladder

Commissioner Tangney calls promotions "well deserved."

Four officers moved up in the ranks of the Long Beach Police Department this week to fill vacancies left by recently announced retirements.

Sgt. Ed Ryan was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and police officers Eric Irizarry, Paul Demarco and Lee Nielsen were promoted to the rank of sergeant, said Commissioner Michael Tangney, who called the promotions “well deserved.” City Court Judge Roy Tepper swore the officers into their new positions at Long Beach City Hall on Aug. 29.

Lt. Daniel Larson, Det. Lt. James Canner, Det. Orlando Garcia, and Lt. Philip Ragona will officially retired on Sept 26.
