According to the Long Beach Police Department, an 81-year-old female motorist was driving northbound in the southbound lane of National Boulevard and turned onto West Beech Street, where she struck an occupied parked car and her vehicle flipped over.
“The male occupant in the parked car had pulled over to use a cell phone,” said Lt. Eric Cregeen, an LBPD spokesman who noted that the account of the accident came from a witness at the scene.
A Long Beach Fire Department ambulance transported the woman in stable condition to South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside, said LBFD Commissioner Scott Kemins. The male sitting in the parked car suffered a minor head laceration but did not go to the hospital.
