Long Beach Man Arrested for Allegedly Impersonating a Police Officer

Just hours after he cut a plea deal for faking his death at Jones Beach last July, a Long Beach man impersonated a police officer and attempted to kidnap a woman, Nassau County Police said.

According to detectives, a female victim, 38, while walking on Church Street near Main Street on March 21 was approached by Raymond J. Roth, 48, in a white minivan with a brown lower panel, who continually yelled at her to get into the minivan.

As she kept walking, he allegedly threatened to arrest her and identified himself as a police officer. The female then ran into PLS Check Cashing located at 10 E. Sunrise Highway.

Roth followed her in and demanded the employees open the security door, but they refused. He again identified himself as a police officer.

Roth was arrested Wednesday and is being charged with Criminal Impersonation 1st Degree, Attempted Kidnapping 2nd Degree and Attempted Burglary 3rd  Degree.

He will be arraigned on March 28 at First District Court in Hempstead.
