Very Sad about Jimmy & Ozzy. What about posting a story about the pedestrian that was struck on Tuesday at around 2:00 pm by a LBFD Cruiser on National Blvd.?? There are too many pedestrians in Long Beach getting hit by cars. Slooooow Down!!

This is purely a sad and tragic accident. Someone posted yesterday that a bolt of lightening hit and then a crash of thunder and the dog got scared and took off and ran directly into the middle of the street/on coming cars. His dear and loving owner chased after him. There is no sense in posting this piece if the story is out there but is left out - it only starts speculation and false accusations. there seem to be more accidents and sirens around town than I ever recall but this story is a tragic accident and I am sure the driver is extremely distraught.

Long Beach is a PEDESTRIAN city; drivers need to SLOW DOWN !!!!! Why aren't the road rules being enforced more? I never see LB police pull anyone over for running the stop signs; or for speeding.

From what has been posted here, it sounds more like this was an unavoidable accident, having nothing to do with excessive speed or carelessness. But please, don't let this stop you from getting on your soapbox and telling us to "Slow Down The Town" and blathering on about "initiatives" for this and that or berating your politician of choice for not being there to prevent this. Accidents happen.

Too many times I have let my dog sit free while I brought stuff in the house from the car and a few times he ran across the street to greet another dog. I am going to put that to a stop because I am putting his life and my life in danger if I chase after him. I am going to put something outside that I can hook him up to for those times when I cannot hold his leash. Not worth taking a chance.

M young; I see cops pulling cars over all the time. I don't think that's the problem. In fact I remember a Lb cop got hit by a car while writing a ticket. I think the problem is there are too many people driving like lunatics these days. Everyone is in a rush and way too distracted. Seems like this summer has been bad regarding traffic incidents in long beach.
