Motorist Flips Car on Loop Parkway

Unidentified male driver transported to hospital with serious injuries, fire chief says.

A motorist was seriously injured after his car overturned on the Loop Parkway Wednesday afternoon.

A motorist driving northbound on the parkway overturned his car on a section of the road north of Lido Boulevard and south of the drawbridge at about 12:04 p.m., Nassau County Police Department told Patch. 

The automobile ended up on all four wheels on a grassy median between the south- and north-bound lanes, according to the Point Lookout-Lido Fire Department, which responded to the scene along with Nassau County police and New York State police.

PLLFD Chief Brian Guerin told Patch that the department stabilized the motorist and transported him to a Nassau County helicopter on the scene that lifted him to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow.

“His car flipped over and he did have serious injuries,” Guerin said.

A witness at the scene told Patch that the northbound lane of the parkway. was closed and backed up with considerable traffic. 

The NCPD didn't have any further details about the accident and New York State police were not immediately available for comment Wednesday afternoon. Patch will have more information about this accident when it is made available.
