Police: Long Beach Men Robbed Woman at Knifepoint

The suspects were apprehended by a police and a MTA K-9 officer.


Two Long Beach men were arrested Tuesday night after allegedly robbing a woman at knifepoint in Island Park.

According to Nassau County detectives, a 21-year-old woman was walking home on Long Beach Road onto the Arlington Walk Way when she was approached by two males that both displayed knives and demanded that she hand over her pocketbook at 11:55 p.m.

The two males, Rakim Cole, 20, and Kaic Santos, 18, both of Long Beach, took the pocketbook, which contained an undetermined amount of cash, and left the alleyway, police said.

A short time later, Nassau County Police and a MTA K-9 officer were able to apprehend and arrest both suspects, police said. All proceeds were recovered.

There were no injuries reported.

Cole was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree robbery and fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon.

Santos was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree robbery, fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon and resisting arrest.

Both defendants will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday.
