Police: Man Throws Woman Onto Hot Coals, Stabs Her With BBQ Utensil in Inwood

Frederick Walker also pushed a second person onto the coals and later attacked a police officer, police say.

A Far Rockaway man was arrested on Saturday night after he threw a woman onto hot coals from a grill he intentionally knocked over and stabbed her with barbecue utensil in Inwood, police said. 

Frederick Walker, 43, also pushed a 59-year-old man who was attempting to intervene onto the coals, police said. 

The incident occurred during a fight outside of a residence on Bayview Avenue around 9:40 p.m., police said.

After Walker threw the 56-year-old woman onto the coals, he struck her head against the sidewalk and stabbed her in the neck with the utensil, police said. 

Both victims were taken to an area hospital where they were treated for lacerations and burn injuries to their arms, hands and legs, police said.

As Walker was being restrained to be taken to the hospital, police said he became combative and kicked the arresting officer’s hand. 

The officer was treated at a local hospital, police said. 

Walker is charged with three counts of second degree assault and one count of third degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Sunday and is being held on $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond.
