Police: Two Arrested After Robbery Set Up in Lido Beach

Lido Beach man robbed after inviting woman to his house to "hang out," police say.

A 21-year-old Lido Beach man invited a female friend to his home to "hang out" last week, but instead of hanging out, the woman set the man up to be robbed by two other men, police said.

The woman, Rebekah Silverman, 23, and one of the men, Tywain Sinclair, 22, involved in the robbery were arrested on Friday in Brooklyn, where they both live, police said.

Police said the robbery took place at 1:35 a.m. on May 14 at a home on Buxton Street.

Here's how it went down, according to police:

The victim and Silverman were in the victim's bedroom when Silverman went outside and returned a short time later. Fifteen minutes later, two men unknown to the victim entered the bedroom. One of the men displayed a handgun and demanded money and property from the victim.

After taking two gold colored necklaces, a Rolex watch, an iPhone, a laptop computer and the victim's wallet containing an undetermined amount of cash and personal papers, the victim was forced to lay on the floor with his legs and hands  tied with sheets from the bed.

The robbers then left the home and the victim was able to break free and notify police.

Following an investigation Silverman and Sinclair were arrested without incident on the corner of Broadway and Melrose Street in Brooklyn on Friday. The second male robber has not been caught yet, police said.

Silverman is charged with two counts of first degree burglary and one count of second degree robbery. Sinclair is charged with two counts of first degree burglary and one count each of second degree robbery, third degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth degree possession of a dangerous weapon.
