TD Bank Robbed at Midday

Police search for a man who fled with an undetermined amount of cash.

Long Beach and Nassau County police are searching for a man who robbed a bank in Long Beach Friday afternoon.

According to Long Beach Police Department, a man walked into TD Bank, at 550 Long Beach Blvd., approached a teller at a window and left with an undetermined amount of money at about 12 p.m. on June 8.

“No weapon was displayed,” Sgt. Eric Cregeen, the department’s public information officer, said Friday afternoon.

A follow-up press release from the LBPD about the incident stated that the suspect, a white male, made a verbal demand to the teller, then fled on foot eastbound along East Fulton Street.

The LBPD detective division is actively investigating with the Nassau County Police Department’s robbery squad, according to the release.

Maybe it's the same guy who's been robbing people at gunpoint on the boardwalk?
john June 8, 2012 at 08:37 pm
who has been robbing people on boardwalk? when was it on the patch?
Bill Carls June 8, 2012 at 08:50 pm
The suspect hasn't been caught yet and it hasn't been on the patch.
TGNY2000 June 8, 2012 at 09:05 pm
Maybe we'll get lucky and someone will shoot him.
Ron Jeremy June 8, 2012 at 10:40 pm
Who has been robbing people on the boardwalk? Who do you think? The black ghetto hood rats. The same people who litter and act like animals on the beach and disregard anyone else as they walk in big groups and stand in the bike lane on the boardwalk.
Mark Fish June 8, 2012 at 11:14 pm
When did this occur? How many robbed at gunpoint?
CP June 8, 2012 at 11:32 pm
Bank robberies, shootings, muggings and rapes. Homeless drunks and crackheads walking our streets. Sounds more and more like the ghetto to me. The only different between us and the real ghetto are our taxes and what the cops make.
LeMont Henrey June 8, 2012 at 11:33 pm
They are choosing the wrong town to rob people... There's probably 4,000 licensed handgun owners in Long Beach -- perhaps the largest concentration in New York State. Not to mention corrections officers, court officers and retired police. Lots of them too. Keep up your nonsense, Homeboy.
LeMont Henrey June 8, 2012 at 11:35 pm
Sounds like every other Democrat-run town on Long Island. Let's see: Roosevelt, Freeport, Elmont, Mastic, oh yea -- Hempstead.
Welcome the Democrats! Welcome the crime and low-lives. Run the working people and the homeowners out on a rail!
Mr. James June 8, 2012 at 11:57 pm
Everyone who get robbed in LB has to be by an African American.. Can someone tell when, where, time that another citizen was robbed on our board walk? Low Lives, Crack Heads n Scumbags, come in all shapes, colors and forms.... Now say English please.
debbie June 9, 2012 at 01:04 am
So Mr Jeremy I guess according to you, everything wrong in long beach is because of "black ghetto people"...Wow some of you are so stupid and ignorant, that I will not waste my time going any further....God bless you Ron you need it

It is very sad how we seem to turn on eachother so easily. We are ALL Long Beach residents and have a vested interest in keeping our beloved city safe and clean, regardless of our color or background. This particular message string was about a bank robbery in our city. How about an outcry of how a seemingly ordinary unarmed citizen can go into a MAJOR bank, and walk out with an undetermined amount of cash. In this day and age, is there no trigger under the tellers counter than can lock the perp between the glass doors? Incredible.

White folks make for better bank robbers
wilson james June 9, 2012 at 12:06 pm
Dont the tellers have to walk to the back to get the cash.
jim June 9, 2012 at 01:37 pm
LBPD should check the methadone clinic at LB Hospital. Dirty secret in Long Beach- atrract heroin addicts from all over south shore to come to the clinic. Hospitals way of profiting from heroin sales. they get government reimbursement for a no frills no sweat "medical care". Almost 50 years of methadone treatment and still have multiple generations of heroin addicts. A waste of taxpayer money- a sympton of LBJ's Great Society.
Wranggerl June 9, 2012 at 02:37 pm
How does a person with no car no weapon and no note rob a bank in daylight and walk away ??? Arent there security guards and dye packs for the money bags. Maybe they should investigate the teller.
BUDA4LB June 9, 2012 at 03:14 pm
I'm with Wranggerl. You have to raise an eyebrow at the apparent ease of this robbery. A small-town bank ok, but TD Bank with all of their electronic security? Come on!
Brendan June 9, 2012 at 04:23 pm
The bank is insured, the teller is getting paid a pittance and is trained not to give a crap. These robberies never net much. The guy is probably a dope fiend and, as another poster said, I hope he runs afoul of someone who does give a crap and has a gun.
Wiki June 9, 2012 at 05:08 pm
A guy walks away on foot after robbing the bank, and NO ONE in the bank bothers to check where he is going, knowing there is no weapon? There is more than one door in the bank. What security does the bank have? No alarms? There's probably more than one person complicit here . . .
LB TAXPAYA June 9, 2012 at 06:43 pm
how the heck could someone possibly get away with a bank robbery in LB? We have so many super heroes to stop them!
DBlonde June 9, 2012 at 07:55 pm
DYE packs are rarely used in bank Robberies, Should the robber jump in a vehicle to flee and the pack goes off, he could panic and and cause a fatal accident-then everyone sues. A lot of bank robberies are inside jobs-girlfriends working as tellers. If he's white-he most likely has a drug habit. Bank robberies are a dalily event in the 5 boro's, especially Manhattan. They get more press in small towns and cities. IF YOU SEE SOMETHING-SAY SOMETHING. OPEN YOUR EYES LONG BEACH, ISLAND PARK and OCEANSIDE.

Does anyone have information on this????????????
Lloyd June 9, 2012 at 08:06 pm
Where are all those $150K Kops. Werent any next door at 7/11 drinking coffee and eating donuts?
I bet that if I were driving up Long Beach Blvd at that same time without wearing my seatbelt, a sharp eyed LB cop would spot me before ever noticing or chasing the fleet footed bank robber.
Lloyd June 9, 2012 at 08:09 pm
Last night we saw 2 Nassau County police cars parked by The Mobil Station with the cops inside getting donuts and coffee. It made us feel "safe" that our city is so well patrolled and is a Mecca for hungry out of town cops.

OMG! Have you no shame? This racist BS should not even enter this. Go ahead and shout your garbage. I hope no one in your family ever has a run in with the law or makes a mistake. If that were to happen, I guess the TRASH would have to be taken out and fed the scraps from someones table. What a bigoted piece of sh_t you are.

Its amazing and bigoted that some people posted racial comments implying that the TD robbers were most likely ghetto blacks when the 2 suspects that were arrested were White

While I agree there seem to be problems in the LB school district, I'm not sure this takes intoRead More account the financial reasons for opting for NCCC. Bottom line re: LIRR is that people in suburbs who ride LIRR and Metro North are paying to subsidizeRead More the bankrupt NYC Subways and subsidize minority riders in the outer boros. Its the price we pay to not live in NYC. The subways charges a cheap fixed fare to subsidize low income NYC residents. Its a form of socialism.
