Teen Charged with Assault at Boardwalk

A Long Beach teen was charged with assault Tuesday after police said he pushed a woman, at least 30 years his senior, last week.

The Long Beach Police Department told Patch that a 16-year-old male intentionally pushed a Long Beach woman, described in age as in her 50s, and caused her to fall backward and strike her head on the ground at Washington Boulevard boardwalk at about 9:40 p.m. Nov. 2. Police did not say what precipitated the incident.

The woman suffered a concussion and was transported by ambulance to South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside for emergency treatment of her injuries, said Lt. Eric Cregeen, an LBPD spokesman.  

On Nov. 5, the male suspect turned himself in at LBPD headquarters, and police arrested and charged him with third-degree assault, Cregeen said.
