To mark the 10th anniversary of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, the Town of Hempstead performed a special early morning ceremony along the shores of Lido Beach.
Held beside a monument comprised of a replica of the twin towers and a girder of World Trade Center steel suspended over a reflection pool, the event drew thousands of residents, all of whom had been touched in one way or another by the tragedy.
