Aircraft Noise Abatement Committee Hosts August Meeting

TVASNAC encourages all local residents concerned about airplane noise to attend.

Residents concerned about airplane noise and its impact on local communities may want to attend the Town Village Aircraft Safety and Noise Abatement Committee meeting next Monday.

TVASNAC — which includes representatives from Long Beach, Atlantic Beach, Cedarhurst, East Williston, Floral Park, Garden City, Hewlett Harbor, Malverne,
Inwood, Lawrence, New Hyde Park, Stewart Manor, Valley Stream, and Woodsburgh — will hold its monthly meeting on Aug. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the Stewart Manor Country Club, at 51 Salisbury Ave., in Stewart Manor.

While the Federal Aviation Administration and Port Authority of New York and New Jersey are invited to attend the meeting and participate in all TVASNAC meetings, the focus of next week's meeting will be to understand the benefits and challenges of conducting a Part150 study.

The invited speaker is Henry A.F. Young of Young Environmental Sciences, Inc., an Aviation Consultant from Manhasset. F.A.R. Part 150 is a voluntary program that U.S. airports may undertake to seek a balance between their operational needs and the noise impacts their operations have on surrounding neighborhoods.

The TVASNAC, sponsored by the Town of Hempstead, regularly meets in the village of Lawrence but has elected to host meetings in interested communities to give residents an opportunity to hear issues and voice comments and complaints. This will be the first time the Village of Stewart Manor will host a meeting of TVASNAC.
