City Releases Numbers on Quiksilver Event

City Manager says company will pay roughly $250,000 for expenses.

The City of Long Beach this week released financial numbers on the Quicksilver Pro New, the surfing competition held in the city in September, and City Manager Charles Theofan said the company will reimburse the city roughly $250,000, according to the Long Beach Herald.   

The Herald article states that Quiksilver has already paid the city more than $155,000 to cover the cost of the competition, an event of the Association of Surfing Professionals that was the largest of its kind ever held on the East Coast.

  • Lifeguards: $17,664
  • Sanitation: $9,000
  • Beach maintenance: $8,136
  • Fire/EMT services: $5,880
  • Street maintenance: $5,000
  • Generator permit: $3,948

Total: $155,747
