Rice Wins Democratic Congressional Primary
Kathleen Rice will run against Bruce Blakeman in November to represent Nassau County's Fourth District in Congress.
Fourth District Democrats have chosen Kathleen Rice to run for the Democratic ticket for Congress in November.
Rice defeated Rep. Kevan Abrahams, D-Freeport, with 6,874 votes compared to Abrahams' 5,350, according to the Nassau County Board of Elections. Rice garnered 55.90 percent of the vote against Abrahams' 43.51 percent.
Rice, the Nassau County District Attorney, was endorsed by a slew of New York Democrats, including Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand and Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, whose seat she will now pursue. Rice, elected to be DA in 2005, has run on her record of being tough on DWI, plea-bargaining, gun violence and crime, and corruption.

"I feel great," Rice told Newsday. "The voters were engaged. We were out there talking to voters, giving that last minute push."
