Prospect School in Hempstead had been previously closed for more than 10 years due to many safety, health and structural hazards. The newly refurbished school, which opened its doors on Monday, is being used as a district-wide kindergarten center. The opening of the Prospect School will allow the district to move students out of portable classrooms and help alleviate overcrowding concerns.
