Romney

I think the question was who won. It appears you answered the question: who got their clocked cleaned?
Romney was out classed tonight.
Brad Potts October 22, 2012 at 11:37 pm
Clear to me, that Obama was more on target.... Romney agreed through much of the night that the Obama Foreign Policies were good... that was a thumbs up for the president
Tideline October 22, 2012 at 11:48 pm
Romney won and he will win again next month. Obama was desperate to prop up his sagging poll numbers and resorted to UN Presidential cheap personal attacks and distortions.
David H. Cheresh October 23, 2012 at 02:51 am
Be it resolved: Web site polls now dominate the fair exchange of ideas, virtually eliminating the fine art of face-to-face discourse and debate.
Polls have found that a majority of poll takers find polls to be less threatening, while other polls seem to negate such on-line poll findings. However, when polling the poll administrators, poll results showed that web site polls have a margin-of-error of +/- 27.5%, virtually leaving ALL polls null and void. In polling the poll takers on these statistically significant poll results, 86.4% stated that they would never participate in another e-poll of any form or function. When queried in an exit-poll, pollsters asked poll takers if they would participate in a new poll to validate the results of the original poll in question. 99% responded in the affirmative, and the other 1% couldn't lift their heads off the keyboard, having spent 14-hours-straight in a single poll on global warning, skipping all three meals in the process. Question: Would you participate in this poll?

Time for Obama to start packing up the White House
Taurus October 23, 2012 at 08:13 am
Really not difficult to 'outclass' Romney-money never breeds class.
Unless women want to experience 'back alley' in their lifetime-vote Republican. Mission: Unseat the President. Then what? We don't know. Mission: Overturn R v W. Mission: Defund Planned Parenthood (97% of what they do is screen for cancer..breast, ovarian, cervical, uterine)..3% is birth control (and yes, that includes the choice of abortion). Back Alley, that's the Romney way.
Just a Resident October 23, 2012 at 08:22 am
Taurus, that is ridiculous. Planned Parenthood isn't going anywhere. And there will always be funding for cancer screening. And there will always be lots of private sector support for abortions and birth control. The back alley fear tactic is irrelevant because it just won't happen.
Who won the debate? It doesn't really matter. But Obama has done so much to destroy our country in so many ways that it is time for a change. Hoping and praying that it comes soon.
Taurus October 23, 2012 at 08:24 am
"Romney family buys voting machines through Bain Capital"..true story. Read it-all over the place.
Voting machines............huge conflict of interest (ours, not his).
Taurus October 23, 2012 at 08:34 am
Just ridiculous? Perhaps you know nothing about Roe or PP-did you know that most people who rely on PP for screenings and general health don't have their own doctors; don't have health insurance....back alley is just a fear? I hope that Romney finds something to do after the election-like-how can I hide even more of my income so that 14% that I pay now is even lower.
The President destroyed our country? Talk about ridiculous. A tired rant...and not truthful AT ALL.

The War on Women?
How about 19 MILLION young women murdered in abortatoriums around the USA and outside the USA the MAJORITY of abortion murders are of women. Thats not a war.......thats genocide. Also....in the USA...the mass murder of children was started by racists like Emma Goldman.
Eddie October 23, 2012 at 09:30 am
The biggest single financial issue in this country is spending and inflation. Romney is the only choice here.
The biggest social issue in this country is the denigration of women through the slaughter of their unborn babies. Only Romney sees this as the holocaust it is. There are at least two Supreme Court positions coming up. A reelection of Barry would insure radical liberal or communist kooks in the Court. Just ask yourself -- is America better of now than it was four years ago? Not unless you're on welfare.

when the debates started Mitt WAS DOWN 25% he will now be our next pres, WHO WON THE DEBATES ?
Taurus October 23, 2012 at 10:42 am
Mr Toller-want to rewrite that. abortatoriums? I absolutely have no clue what you were trying tosay..abortatorium - another anti choice rant.
Ms. Goldman-I know all about her and what she stood for (and not all of it I agree with)-and since I'm talking about women's rights and women's health-she was jailed for distributing birth control...NOW, ISN'T THAT THE CRIME OF THE CENTURY ? ! And you...are you a racist-so many closeted racists have come out since the President was elected in '08 and all of them quick to call everyone else a racist. I've read what she said about 'negroes'..in a negative sense as well as the whites using blacks to stay in power....that doesn't sound racist to me.

Who won the debates? Romney was louder in #1. The President took #2 and #3. Joe Biden was the clear choice against Ryan.
Who will win the election-well-let's see come Nov 6th. If you want to keep our soldiers in 'war', if you want 10 Scalia's on the Supreme Court, if you have children who will come of Medicare and SS age sometime in the next 10 years or so to be faced with nothing, if you want women's health-they're reproductive health-to be in question...well, you know who to vote for for that...Romney/Ryan

In my view it was close to a tie, with the president a little ahead. Not so much in what he said but, how he said it. He is an excellent speaker. Romney can do a much better job with the economy then Obama. We have to get the debt and deficit spending under control. Also, under Obama I believe America has become or is perceived weak. I am a registered Democrat but, my positions on the issues at hand run more along Conservative lines. I'll be voting for Romney.
Lido resident October 23, 2012 at 04:31 pm
Why is it a given that Romney and the republicans can do a better job managing the economy? I personally believe that the current administration has done a fairly good job under very difficult circumstances. The financial world almost imploded in 2008. And yes i will give credit to the Bush administration (and Paulson in particular) from not allowing us to totally go under at that time (Not looking to argue abuot whose fault it was -- but the point was the markets were only saved by the federal goverment intervening). Unemployment is the same it was when Obama took office 4 years ago -- after rising signficnatly in his first 9 months. Since then it has slowly come down and the ecomony has added jobs. Interest rates are at all time lows - thus the cost of capital is at all time lows. The stock market is up 100% of so from its low - and about 90% of its all time high. Europe is a mess (alot to do from fail out from our markets -- and alot to do from thier own issues). But the point is because of goverment interventation we lived to fight another day. Oh and taxes -- the lowest in decades in terms of % of GDP and rates are still low (Bush tax cuts are still in place, thier were reductions in payroll taxes, acclerated deprection rates, etc etc). Capital Gains and Investment income are taxed at 15%. Cap Gains was 30% prior to the Bush tax cuts and investment income was taxed as ordinary income. And you know what? People invested in new companies and created jobs (remeber the tech bubble -- and even some gujy named Romney made a forturne investing with such high rates). "Real Unemployment" at 14% -- well see what the U-6 rate (that is the rate that is being quoted) was when Obama took office (about the same it is today); 50% of college graduates unemployed or underemployed. High but that number is always high. It was 60% after the tech bubble burst. Finally if you want to know why we have a deficit look in your medicine cabinet. Beta Blockers, Lipitors etc have kept us alive well into our 80s and that is the address we have to deal with. That all being said the best thing i can say about Romnney is he is right probably 50% fo the time or so. That is because he will say anything and has taken ever side of every postion (except about canceling all the bad points for Obamacare -- like how we pay for it -- and keep all the good points - like gauranteeing coverage for pre-existing conditions) depending on who his audience is. I remeber how the republicans villifed and hated Clinton. They have spent the last four years doing that to Obama and unfortuantely if you repeat the same lies over and over again they become accepted as facts.
TJM October 23, 2012 at 07:09 pm
Look,at the Market today. It shows Obama will not be our next President.
Pete October 23, 2012 at 11:38 pm
Are you for real? Over16 trillion in debt, 23 million unemployed and yearly growth declining year after year and he has no real plan to get us on the right track. His grade is F.
David H. Cheresh October 24, 2012 at 12:35 am
When backpacking through the chilled, dark hours in the HOODOO LAND of Utah's southeastern quadrant, atop the vast and virtually empty Colorado Plateau, it might behoove you to recognize a simple tenet that, in the light of the cosmos, your station on Earth is merely one of common and irrevocable insignificance.
But, then, when the new moon prevails, and the light from the Milky Way is challenged by a building storm-front approaching from the east -- opaque and menacing, palpable, rumbling in the distance -- and you have yet to fashion your life-sustaining fire, it might also be wise to lower your pack, lie back on a flat rock, and count your blessings as you gaze into the charcoal ether above. Smile now, for with certainty, you will not be the same person that you were by the time the sunrise is upon you. You are being watched, my friend, and carefully guarded, and you will realize such truths when all is said and done. -- D. Huntington Cheresh, A True Believer, In Honor of the Autumnal Equinox on September 22, 2012, at 7:49 AM PST.

At no time during my past have I encountered such an astute, articulate, and measured pundit. Thus, I'm convinced that you, and you alone, will solve the political riddles that erode my reservoir of common sense on a daily basis.
Tideline October 24, 2012 at 08:25 am
I did not hear the word abortion, or for that matter Planned Parenthood, mentioned at any time during the debate. Why are we now focused on that?
Taurus, if you are so concerned about illegal abortion, you should consider being on the pill, problem solved. It seems people are finally waking up that is we as a country do not want to go over the cliff, we need Businesspeople in office to prevent that by balancing the budget and capping spending.
Lido resident October 24, 2012 at 11:48 am
yes Pete I am for real. Look at the unemployment numbers. They peaked 9 months after he took office and have fallen steadily. He inherited a deficiet that was in excess of $1 trillion -- and granted they have not shrunk it -- but unfortunately you can cut goverment spending when you have 2 wars and tough economic times.
But my orignal point still is why does anyone think that Romney can do a better job with the economy? What magical strategy is he going to implement? He has never expressed any SPECIFIC changes or strategies -- except cutting rates. He has said he is going to get rid of deductions. Okay which ones? how is he going to limit that? Why will that drive growth? We had very high rates post WWII (with alot of deductions) and we had growth. The rates under Clinton (and Reagan) were higher on both earnings and capital gains then today and we had low employment and huge investment gains. We furhter lower rates with the bush tax cuts -- supposedly for 10 year period to spur the economy after the tech bubble burst (though the republicans were pushing tax cuts prior to the bubble bursting because we believed (questionable now) that we were running at a surplus). We had both great economic times under the Bush and horrible economic times. So why is further cutting rates going create jobs? He mentioned (at least the way i interperted it) giving everyone a 25k standard deduction in the last debate -- but he has never committed a number nor what he would limit -- and more importantly how those cuts would effect the economy and the deficit. All i know is that will probably raise the tax burden on many of the middle /upper middle class tax payers on long island who have large deductions for state and local taxes. Forget about what it does to the housing market since effectively it kills the interst deduction. Romney is telling you what you want to hear -- that he will fix everything, and we can do it by contributing less to society. What he isnt telling you is HOW.
