Dr. Ronald L. Friedman, who worked as superintendent of Long Beach School District from 1999 to 2004, will serve in his new position until June 30, 2014. He takes over for the retiring superintendent, Dr. Carole Hankin, whose salary of more than $400,000 brought both criticism and support.

In a letter to the Syosset community, Friedman wrote: “Syosset’s record of providing superb educational and related co-curricular activities to its students is longstanding as well as outstanding, and I am humbled by this opportunity to work with all members of the school community to continue and to enhance all we do for the students we serve.”
