Officials are still investigating the death of a Long Beach High School student who passed away on July 6.
Christopher Cuzzo, 16, was going to be a senior in September.
"The Long Beach School District is deeply saddened at the loss of one of our high school students," a statement from the Long Beach School District reads. "We were informed that Christopher Cuzzo passed away on, July 6. We extend our sympathies and condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time, and our counselors are on hand to help any students and staff with grief brought on by this tragedy."
School counselors will be available throughout the summer. Please contact the school district's PPS Office at 897-2200 to schedule an appointment.
Scott Kemins, commissioner of the Long Beach Fire Department, and the Long Beach Police Department, confirmed that LBFD emergency medical technicians transported Cuzzo to Long Beach Medical Center, where he was pronunced dead.
"We received a call on Friday, July 6, at about 6 a.m., for an unresponsive male ... at his home," said Sgt. Eric Cregeen, the department's public information officer, on Monday.
The funeral mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary of the Isle Roman Catholic Church in Long Beach. The funeral will follow at the St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.
