Long Beach Boxer Seanie Monaghan Remains Undefeated

Pugilist wins St. Patrick's Day bout at MSG.

Long Beach pro boxer Seanie Monaghan lent some St. Patrick’s Day cheer to his home city when he defeated opponent Eric Watkins at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, wracking up a 13-0 record with the win.

Monaghan fought Watkins in front of a full house with hundreds of fans from his home city just before the main event between Sergio Martinez and Matthew Macklin, broadcast on HBO, according to the Long Beach Herald.

About the fight, Monaghan, ranked 96th in the world with eight knockouts, wrote on this Facbook page:

“Took care of another tough customer last night. I refuse to lose in front of my Long Beach army … I love all you guys and couldn't do it without you.”
