Commercial Featuring Billy Crystal to Air This Weekend

Long Beach's push to boost tourism continues.

A tourism commercial promoting Long Beach is ready for TV.

Shot at the Long Beach Boulevard boardwalk on the same day Crystal announced a fundraiser he and former boxer Muhammad Ali held raised $888,000 for the city's relief fund, to assist the city rebuild after Hurricane Sandy.

The summer ad campaign to bring visitors back to the “City by The Sea" will consist of television, radio, print, web and billboard advertising. The project cost approximately $700,000 with $500,000 coming from New York State.

“The City of Long Beach, its residents and merchants have worked countless long hours preparing for the summer beach season,” said Scott J. Mandel, Long Beach City Council President. “Our new visitors television commercial is a fantastic visual representation of all that our city has to offer and shows off just how far we have come in our rapid redevelopment.”

Bethpage Federal Credit Union and Citigroup both contributed $50,000 each towards the effort. The city and local business owners are also working in conjunction with the LIRR to bring discounts to visitors who trail to Long beach by railroad.

It will begin airing the weekend.
