Flash Flood Warning for Long Beach

Weather warnings issued as Tropical Storm Andrea soaks the area.

As Tropical Storm Andrea makes its way up the East Coast, Long Beachers are feeling the sopping wet effects.

But weather experts are now also issuing a Flash Flood Warning for Long Beach and the South Shore of Long Island through Friday night. Rainfall is estimated to be 1.5 to 2.5 inches per hour.

As Coastal Flood Warning has also been issued until 11 p.m. Friday night, with tides expected to be 1 to 2 feet above normal. High tide is estimated to roll into Long Beach by 8:20 p.m.

The totals could lead to "flash flooding of urban and poor drainage areas as well as small stream flash flooding," the weather service said.
