The Long Beach Fire Department is among the busiest on Long Island, responding to more than 4,000 calls annually. The LBFD headquarters are located at City Hall, at 1 West Chester Street. There are two other firehouses: Station 1 at Maple Boulevard and East Park Avenue and Station 2 at Indiana Avenue and West Park Avenue. Scott Kemins is chief of the department, which has 150 volunteer firefighters, 27 career firefighters and 23 part-time dispatchers. The department has five engine trucks, three ambulances, a 100-foot ladder tower and 95-foot ladder tower, as well as a water rescue unit with a Jet-ski, boat and pick-up truck.
