Park Ave. Vacancy Gets The Spins

A new indoor cycling and spin studio is slated to open at a second-floor vacancy at 28A W. Park Ave. this summer.

Owner Jason Horowitz attended the City Council meeting Tuesday, when his new studio was granted a waiver for off-street parking requirements. Horowitz, who submitted a business narrative to the city, said 400 to 500 square feet of space will hold about 20 stationary bikes.

"We are just focusing on cycling," said Horowitz, who noted that some accessories, such as spin footwear, will be sold at the studio.

The hours of operation will depend on the class schedule but will roughly be from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. The studio will open above Tutti Frutti, a frozen yogurt shop located across the street from a parking mall and the train station.

“There will be significant time breaks, between 15 minutes and an hour, between the classes, so that we don’t get an overrun of people and we don’t use too many parking spaces," Horowitz said.

His wife, Stephanie, will work full time to run the day-to-day operations of the studio and they will hire independent certified contractors to instruct the classes.
