UPDATED: Pedestrian Critical After Auto Struck Her

Police say 85-year-old motorist hit woman crossing Lido Boulevard.

A woman is in critical condition after an elderly motorist vehicle struck her while she was walking in Lido Beach on Wednesday, according Nassau County Police Department.

Fourth Precinct detectives said that at 11:01 a.m. an 85-year-old woman driving a 2004 Pontiac westbound on Lido Boulevard struck a 59-year-old female pedestrian that was crossing from north to south at Regent Drive, outside of the Lido-Point Lookout Fire District firehouse.   

The pedestrian suffered serious head trauma and a Nassau County Police Helicopter transported her to a nearby hospital, where she is listed in critical condition.

The vehicle passed a safety inspection at scene and detectives report no criminality.
