Restaurant, Religious Institutions Cited for Health Violations

A Long Beach restaurant, church and school were cited for critical health violations by the Nassau County Department of Health in recent months and years.

Panda Garden, Christian Light Missionary Baptist Church, and Torah High School of Long Beach were all cited for one critical violation and multiple non-critical violations between August 2012 to November 2013. Each was cited for the same critical violation of cooked or prepared foods that were subject to cross-contamination from raw food.

The Panda Garden, at 649 E. Park Ave., was inspected in January 2013 and also cited for non-critical violations that included food that was unprotected from contamination during storage, preparation, display, transportation and service while left uncovered or stored on a floor. Other non-critical violations were wiping clothes that were not stored properly in sanitizing solutions, as well as food contact surfaces that were not washed, rinsed and sanitized after each use.

Torah High School, at 205 W. Beech St., which was inspected November 2013, was also slapped with this last violations and other non-critical violations. These involved single-service items that were reused and improperly stored, as well as floors, walls and ceilings whose surfaces were dirty, not properly constructed and were in disrepair.
