Panera Bread to Open in Island Park Next Week

Restaurant to pledge portion of bakery-cafe sales to hurricane relief funds.

Long Beachers will be able to grab an Asiago Roast Beef sandwich or sit down with an Fuji Apple Chicken salad at the new Panera Bread restaurant that is set to open next Monday at the King Kullen plaza in Island Park, just over the Long Beach Bridge.

Starting Monday, Panera Bread will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday.

In a statement, Panera said that to jumpstart its goal of community involvement, the bakery-cafe of the new restaurant will pledge 10 percent of its first-day sales to the Long Beach, Island Park and Oceanside Hurricane Relief Funds.

“This area was definitely one of the hardest hit during hurricane Sandy and now, nearly a year later, there’s still much work to be done to restore homes and get the community up and running,” said Greg George, vice president of operations for Panera. “We are committed to helping the communities we serve and we look forward to making a positive difference.”
