Sound Off: What Store(s) Should Replace Bi-Wise Drugs

The pharmacy went out of business, leaving a large vacancy in the heart of the city.

Bi-Wise Drugs, at 26 W. Park Ave. (between Edwards and National Boulevards), closed its doors earlier this month. The owner, Mitchell Matza, went to work for a major pharmacy chain. That leaves not just any vacancy in the middle of town, but one with 3,900 square feet, an area about twice the size of the average storefront in Long Beach.

Considering the size of this unit, one large store or two smaller stores could set up shop there. What kind of business do you think would prosper at the location?
