Boutique Brings Good ‘Karma’

Owner says idea for store came from her displacement after Hurricane Sandy.

Julia Lopez-Motherway came up with the idea for her new business in Long Beach,
Karma’s Angel, after Hurricane Sandy displaced her from her West End home.

She and her family were living at the Hudson Hotel in Manhattan, and as she browsed and shopped at stores during the Christmas season, Lopez-Motherway thought to bring a beauty boutique to her hometown, where she has lived for the past 16 years.

Karma’s Angel replaces the former Sweets for Shore at 68 W. Park Ave., and features cosmetics, body care and perfume products, as well as an upstairs lounge with a bar that serves everything from Gentle Brew coffee to brownies to gum balls.
