Friday Nov. 8, 4-6pm. Weaving workshop for kids ages 10-14.
Rags to rugs! Debris to decoration! Recycle your trash into treasure. Using traditional weaving techniques, we'll turn old clothing, textiles and nontraditional materials into a decorative wall hanging or functional art such as a throw rug or table runner. Each student will learn how to create their own loom from cardboard, warp, weave and tie off the finished piece.All materials included but feel free to bring anything you want to experiment with - old tshirts, scarves, jeans or other fabric; fiber (yarn or thread), twigs, wire, feathers... the possibilities are endless!
