The playground where the memorial bell stood was just dedicated last week in memory of 26 children, teachers, and other personnel tragically killed in Newtown last year. The bell is inscribed with the number 26 and the saying, "Every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings."

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the theft to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain anonymous.
