1. Resolution Granting Waiver of Off-Street Parking Requirements Re:

Premises 879 West Beech Street (street floor), Long Beach, New York.

Re: Surf Shop

2. Resolution Authorizing Publication for Hearing of an Ordinance to

Amend the Code of Ordinances of the City of Long Beach Re: Motor

Vehicles and Traffic.

Legislative Memo: In order to enhance the safety and protection of our

residents, we are creating a uniform city wide speed limit of 30 mph along

Park Avenue and all Boulevards.

3. Resolution Authorizing Amendment to the Adopted Capital Improvement

Program for the 2013-2014 Fiscal Year.

Legislative Memo: This item is to correct a misprint within the adopted

Capital Improvement Program, which requires Council approval.

4. Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Amend the Current

Agreement with Omni Recycling for the Disposal of Non-Hazardous

Debris Accumulated in the City’s Recycling Yard.

Legislative Memo: As a result of Superstorm Sandy, the necessary

removal of non-hazardous debris from the City far exceeded all

estimations, thereby requiring an amendment to the contract. Funding for

this is being requested through public assistance grant monies from

FEMA.

5. Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Award the Contract for the

Rental of 20 Yard Roll-Off Containers and Disposal of Contents to the

Lowest Responsible Bidder.

Legislative Memo: This is a standard contract that the City has always

had in place to remove our daily work debris, such as asphalt, concrete

and vegetative debris. This contract was re-bid as the previous vendor

failed to perform.

6. Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Enter into a Contract to

Purchase Fire Hydrants on an As Needed Basis from the Sole Responsible

Bidder.

Legislative Memo: The prices bid for these fire hydrants are exactly the

same per unit as those awarded last year. These fire hydrants are made of

high quality metals and paints, which are essential in a sea water

community. During Superstorm Sandy, these hydrants were submerged in

salt water and they have performed perfectly since the storm, unlike the

older models which have rusted and seized and are being replaced.

7. Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Enter into a Contract for the Removal of Accumulations of Grit and Grease from the Water Pollution Control Plant with the Sole Responsible Bidder.

Legislative Memo: This is a standard contract that the City has always

had in place to remove the grit and grease that accumulates at the Water

Pollution Control Plant.

8. Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Enter into a Charitable

Contribution Agreement.

Legislative Memo: This charitable contribution will be used to create a

Media Arts Lab for middle-high school aged students at the Magnolia

Community Center.

9. Resolution Authorizing Publication of a Notice of Public Hearing of an

Application to Waive the Off-Street Parking Requirements for Premises:

1052 West Beech Street (street floor), Long Beach, New York.
