The Lady Marines fell to top-seeded Garden City in the Nassau County Class B semifinals at Adelphi University’s Motamed Field. Garden City now advances to try and capture its ninth straight county title next week against Manhasset.

The Marines hung tough with the Trojans for much of the game, thanks to 11 saves by goalie Sarah Resznick. The Long Beach offense included two goals apiece from Molly Martin, Melissa Rubin and Hannah Sofield, with Kayle Callahan also tallying a score.

Long Beach finished the 2013 season at 6-10. The Marines were one of 10 teams selected to compete in Nassau County’s new “power league” during the regular season.
